San Diego, CA. — On Saturday, October 28, the San Diego Mesa College Olympian Football team will face College of the Desert. Mesa’s 28-23 win over Victor Valley on October 21 secured the Olympians as #1 in the American Conference and #21 in the state rankings. Mesa’s defense ranks #1 in the state in five defensive categories.

On Friday, Oct. 13 San Diego Mesa College held its third annual Sustainability Summit event. Various organizations and speakers were present, including representatives from the Environmental Health Coalition, an environmental justice non-profit, and Closing the Loop SD, a recycling and composting company. Co-Coordinator of SEEDS Scholar Program and Assistant Professor of Geography, Waverly Ray, summarized the event, “The third annual Sustainability Summit exposed students to educational pathways and careers related to sustainability, hunger, and food security.”

Today, San Diego Mesa College hosted a start-of-construction event for the future of Fine Arts Building. The event was attended by nearly100 administrators, staff, students, faculty, construction partners and others. Guests were invited to sign or draw a picture on one of two large canvases to symbolize their connection to the new facility. Once the building is open, the mementos will be put on short-term display in the building.

On Monday, Oct 9, the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) Police Department invited Mesa and all SDCCD students to join them for, “Coffee with a Cop”, an event held on campus outside of the Mesa Commons building. On Friday, October 20, San Diego State University (SDSU) will hold their annual War Memorial Ceremony to honor veterans who died while serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. This will be the 21 annual wreath-laying ceremony, and has been expanded to include and honor service members involved in events since World War II.
